Companies learn how to grow through bottom-up experiments as they provide an opportunity for managers and employees to learn new capabilities and succeed. Subsequently, experiences from these experiments must be shared with the boarder organization.

Organization may facilitate such experimentation through:

  • Setting stretch goals - goals that cannot be met with the current way of doing things
  • Facilitating rapid result initiatives - a structure of small agile teams1, consisting of a managers and employees that are tasked with implementing an element of growth plan and deliver results in 100 days or fewer, with a regular check-in with all teams present discussing measurable progress and insights

Rapid result initiative approach efficiency depends on the ability to make subsequent small wins in a low risk environment that encourage testing of new ideas.
