Gaining right resources is usually due to luck, for example:
- Invested in a product idea that happened to be successful
- Bought stocks in a company that shortly after won a big contract
- Selected the right technology that happened to become dominant
- Entering a market as a first-mover which then exploded
It does not mean that we cannot help our luck.
We can do that in two ways, build capabilities to:
- Identify opportunities
- Exploit those opportunities
