# Places Ontology

Locations in space, from whole worlds down to single buildings.

Subtypes

  • World — a whole world or plane of existence; the root of a Place hierarchy. One per parallel world, plane, or dream-realm.
  • Realm — large political or cosmic region within a World (kingdoms, continents, sub-planes).
  • Region — geographic area without firm political boundary (the Black Marshes, the Spine).
  • Settlement — city, town, village, camp.
  • Site — specific point of interest: dungeon, ruin, shrine, battlefield.
  • Structure — a single building or constructed thing (a tower, a bridge, a tomb).
  • Natural Feature — named river, mountain, forest, sea.

Common fields

type, subtype, parent, world, climate, population, government, tags. World subtype additionally: cosmology, physical_laws, access_points, time_relation, accessibility.

Common relationships

part of Place, borders Place, adjacent to World (for Worlds: which other Worlds touch this one and where), ruled by Organization or Character, home of People, site of Event, contains Site / Structure.
