# into the abyss
## a campaign log and lore wiki — the world, its rules, and the play record

A wiki for an ongoing TTRPG campaign. Two layers in one vault: nine categories that describe the world (entities, places, organizations, objects, events, concepts, laws, lore, nature) and a tenth that describes the game played in it (the chronicle).

Layers

Two layers in one wiki — they live together but never merge.

  • World layer (categories 1–9): grows during prep. Entities, places, history, lore, laws.
  • Play layer (category 10): grows during play. Sessions, threads, the party.

A PC is still an Entity. The Party is a Chronicle entry that links to its PC members. A PC who dies, retires, or rolls into another campaign keeps a clean Character page.

Categories

World

  • Entities — sentient or animate beings: characters, peoples, creatures, powers.
  • Places — locations in space: worlds, realms, settlements, sites, structures, natural features.
  • Organizations — coordinated groups: polities, factions, religions, houses, military units.
  • Objects — discrete things: artifacts, materials, documents.
  • Events — things that happened: eras, conflicts, foundings, incidents.
  • Concepts — abstractions, systems, ideas: magic traditions, philosophies, languages, customs, codes, titles.
  • Laws — what is actually true about reality: axioms, rules, constraints, thresholds, cosmology. Most are gm-only until discovered.
  • Lore — what people in-world say is true: myths, legends, prophecies, songs, records, rumors. In-world primary sources.
  • Nature — non-sentient living and physical world: flora, fauna, phenomena, afflictions.

Game

  • Chronicle — campaigns, arcs, sessions, recaps, threads, the party.

Three things that look alike

  • Laws are what is true.
  • Lore is what people say is true.
  • Concepts are what people built around the laws.

A page about belief is Lore. A page about practice is Concept. A page about reality is Law.

Working in this vault

Every page carries a stub minimum: name, type, one-line summary, status. Everything else is optional.
